Great hotel, great location. Staff were extremely helpful on our arrival and during our stay. When we booked in, we were informed that our room had been upgraded, it was a fabulous room with a lovely sea view. It was exceptionally clean, plenty of towels, lovely dressing growns provided. Tea/coffee/milk plentiful. Fridge in room also. Two double beds, really comfortable with a variety of pillow types. Room had a bath with overhead shower. Comfortable seating in the bar area, lovely ornate features. Hotel was 17 mins walk to the train station, straight up from the Promenade. Plenty of buses also if you require transport. I would highly recommend The Old Ship Hotel for your stay. Lovely breakfast with a variety of options. We stayed at the hotel for the Brighton Marathon Weekend, perfect location for running 10K race and an easy walk to Preston Park for the Marathon start and finish on promenade. We would definitely stay again the next time we visit Brighton.

Fantastic hotel very friendly staff super efficient and helpful. The manager brought up more pillows immediately when requested. Super side sea view. The lift was great fun like being in an old movie. The breakfast was really generous. Super location. Do not hesitate to stay here. The desk in the room was great. An old fashioned feel and a very famous hotel. I got a very good last minute bargain price excellent value for money. Thank you would definitely book again when I am next in Brighton. I also managed to check in earlier than advertised. The reception also offered a left luggage service. Highly recommend. If you are interested in history this is a landmark hotel in Brighton's history. Upon arrival I was given a scroll giving a timeline of this famous hotel. My only regret is that I couldn't stay another night.

Loved the atmosphere, the staff were excellent. But on my second night l wanted some food and because there was a big party booked No food was available..and they had not informed me.The manager did go out for a takeaway and provided me with plate and cutlery , which l thought was excellent !!.. Also at my age 81 and difficult with mobility l needed a walk in shower which was not available and the shower was in the bath whi although low l could not get into and there was no walk in shower rooms available. But apart from that my room was lovely and my whole stay was wonderful. I will certainly return on my next visit to Brighton but obviously try to book a room with walk in shower. Very satisfied Jane Law.

The location right on the seafront was perfect, we even had a tiny glimpse of the sea from our room. There was plenty of places to sit in the communal areas and it was lovely sitting looking out to sea and people watching. The staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. The bedroom had plenty of storage space if we had needed it. Our room was warm and the bedding clean . The bed was comfortable enough for a one night stay. I think management had tried to rectify any problems as best they could. For what we paid we were more than happy. As we were leaving we did see into a bedroom that looked as if had been refurbished and it looked very nice.

From the moment we walked in (which was earlier than check in time)the staff was really friendly, polite &very helpful & checked us in as our upgraded room was ready..Really nicely decorated reception area, restaurant &bar area with a pool table which is only £1 ago ,where else can you get that....The lift is from 1920 a little slower than what we are used too nowadays, but still working (quirky) & a chair from Sir Winston Churchill that he brought to the hotel .. Breakfast was a buffet style, really nice and plentiful, spoilt for choice really, coffee as much as asked for. We had a really nice stay. Thank you. Would stay again.
